Windows Autopatch - Changing the configuration

After Windows Autopatch has been activated, several configurations are installed in the tenant. Since we are working with a naming convention, this configuration does not match ours. As a test, I have now renamed some configuration profiles and also made other adjustments in the profiles. Will this customization remain or will it be reset by the Autopatch Services at some point? For example, is it also possible to adjust the deferral days in the quality updates without this adjustment being reset to the original value?

  • mpat777 - The configurations made by Windows Autopatch are documented here - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-autopatch/references/windows-autopatch-changes-to-tenant
In general, it is not supported to change these configurations, indeed doing so may impair the Autopatch service's ability to operate correctly.
When Autopatch releases updates to the configurations any unauthorized changes would be overwritten. Please review the FAQ for more information - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-autopatch/overview/windows-autopatch-faq

Any Profiles, Groups and the like prefixed with either "Modern Workplace " or "Windows Autopatch " should not be customized, adjusted or changed.

      Hello,
in my example "Autopatch" created 2 Intune WIN Over GPO configuration profiles 1 setting is over OMA-URI other one is created with setting catalogue. It is the same thing just another config is that normal to leave them both? And "Autopatch" created 2 Telemetry settings one is for Windows 10 another is for Windows 11. The problem that they have 1 same OMA-URI setting and because of that all computers sending conflicts to Intune. How can I to avoid that?

        Hi svikscius,

If you look for Message Center Post (MC443898): the migration from OMA-URI to Intune Settings Catalog this explains why you might be seeing different profiles & polices at the moment. The deployment of the change commenced last week and will continue through this month.

        Regards,

        Richard
