AutoPatch with Developer Tenant

Can I try out AutoPatch using my M365 E5 Developer license? I don't see it available in my developer tenant & would love to test it out before implementing in our production tenant. Thanks

    Hi egoodman ,

     

    Windows Autopatch is only available for the following products:

     

    License ID GUID number
    Microsoft 365 E3 SPE_E3 05e9a617-0261-4cee-bb44-138d3ef5d965
    Microsoft 365 E5 SPE_E5 06ebc4ee-1bb5-47dd-8120-11324bc54e06
    Windows 10/11 Enterprise E3 WIN10_VDA_E3 6a0f6da5-0b87-4190-a6ae-9bb5a2b9546a
    Windows 10/11 Enterprise E5 WIN10_VDA_E5 488ba24a-39a9-4473-8ee5-19291e71b002
    Windows 10/11 Enterprise VDA E3_VDA_only d13ef257-988a-46f3-8fce-f47484dd4550

     

    However, you can obtain a trial license for Microsoft 365 E5 if you would like to test out Windows Autopatch. This trial will provide you with 25 licenses for 1 month. See steps below for instructions on how to obtain this trial:

    1. Navigate to the Microsoft 365 admin center and sign in with your tenant
    2. Select Billing and then Purchase services
    3. In the search bar, look for Microsoft 365 E5 and select Details under that product
    4. Select Start free trial and complete the validation prompts
    5. Select Try now and then Continue
    6. To validate you have successfully redeemed the Microsoft 365 E5 trial, navigate back to the Microsoft 365 admin center > Billing > Licenses

    This is a huge limitation, IMO. Not specifically related to Autopatch but in the dev tenants overall. Microsoft should provide admins of services like MEM and Defender with a way to obtain more than a 30-day trial in a test tenant. It would go a long way towards promoting the adoption of their services.
