Top-level manager on Glint admin page

Hi there,

I have uploaded my employee data file (everyone is assigned to a managerID except for the CEO)

However, I am not able to find the CEO's name from this drop down list- could you advise what could be wrong? Or will the system be able to automatically assign and I do not have to do this?

  • Hello Jing_Ying_Choon,

If a customer does not define the top-level manager, the hierarchy will still be built-out based on how the reporting looks in the file.  There are some use cases to leave it blank intentionally, for example if the client needs to leverage multiple top-level CEO's and needs the reporting to reflect as such.  If they only utilize one top level CEO (majority of customers), it would be advised to have it defined.  The file uploads would need to reflect a roll-up to that defined CEO, otherwise the file would fail (essentially a safeguard in case they try to upload a file that has users reporting to a different top-level CEO than what is defined).

In summary, you do not need to have a this defined, however if you have a selection, the system will look for that user to have a blank value for the manager ID attribute and if any other users have a blank value, then we would provide a file error message stating that a user has a blank manager ID.  If a top-level manager is not selected and you have multiple users with blank manager IDs, then the system may try to build a hierarchy toward each user.

In your scenario you can enter a ticket to get the top-level manager to appear, or you can leave it blank and just have the customer confirm that only the top-level manager has a blank value in the manager ID attribute.  I hope I did not add additional confusion, so please let me know if you have any questions.
