Viva engage View only

Hey everyone,

i‘m looking for a solution to use groups instead of users populating the „View Only“-mode.

is there anything around? Graph e,g,?

does anyone know the reason why MS just wants to let us add Users instead of Users AND Groups?

thanks

  • Viva Engage communities are backed by Microsoft 365 Groups, so you can't add groups to M365 Groups. This is consistent across all the M365 Groups end-points including in Teams workspaces and SharePoint.

  • The likely reason is granular auditing and security. By assigning permissions to individual users, Microsoft can more precisely track who accessed what and when. Group-based permissions can obscure that visibility, especially with nested or dynamic groups. That said, this design choice can feel limiting in enterprise scenarios.

Absolutely, but keep in mind that, as far as I know, is the only admin center adding thing where you add only users. All over in Entra you can add Groups…just not here 😞

that may ok, but then there might be the possibility to add a bulk of users per Graph/PS….
