Collateral storage and creation of M365 Group
Hi,
If you're referring to Viva Amplify, campaigns are stored in the associated user's OneDrive for Business.
At the same time, Viva Amplify campaigns are managed similarly to SharePoint sites and can be viewed, managed, deleted, and restored from the SharePoint Admin Center.
Campaigns require OneDrive for Business because campaign data is associated with the creator's OneDrive.
Viva Amplify campaigns are also managed as SharePoint-backed objects containing documents, libraries, lists, settings, and campaign history.
I couldn't find information stating that each campaign automatically creates a Microsoft 365 Group (so a Microsoft Team...)
Regarding a user leaving the organization, Microsoft documents that content stored in OneDrive can be preserved through retention policies. Content stored in SharePoint isn't affected when the content creator leaves the organization.
Hope this helps.
Thank you CoralieSimonaire
Amplify does create a Microsoft Team (and hence M365 Group and SharePoint site) for each campaign. Now that I know this, I just see this as clogging up the number of sites already in the system. Especially if many, many campaigns are created.
I don't understand why collateral aren't stored in the campaigns SharePoint site, and instead why they are stored in the user's OneDrive for Business account - this does not make sense and becomes an issue when people leave, despite retention policies. What is the purpose of the SharePoint site? Is it because the campaign creates the MS Team (and therefore its SharePoint site)?
Also, how can I differentiate a MS Team/SharePoint site derived from a campaign in the SharePoint Admin Center?
Thanks for your help with my queries, I appreciate it.
