Microsoft’s Cloud GBP Feb 2025 Price Adjustments

In regard to the pricing adjustments announced in https://news.microsoft.com/2024/12/03/local-currency-price-adjustments-for-microsofts-commercial-cloud/, will the new pricing only come into effect for new and renewing customers or will customers in their existing terms also see a reduction?

I would assume the former is correct but just wanted to double check as I couldn't find any FAQ's linked to this announcement.

  • I was able to find someone to confirm the following:

Price adjustments typically take effect at renewal, not in the middle of the subscription.

Good question! Typically, new pricing applies to new and renewing customers, not those on existing terms. It’d be great if Microsoft clarified this in an FAQ. Reaching out to support might give you the final answer!

I haven't found any official Microsoft documentation regarding this, so my assumption would be the same. No price decrease within an existing term since the customer has 'price protection'.

Hopefully someone from Microsoft can share an official answer.

HI all, did we get a definitive reply to this? Can we assume that only new subscriptions will attract the Feb 1st decreased pricing? and renewal or new will get Feb 1st decreased pricing, post Feb 1st. Hope that makes sense JillArmour
