todos are disappearing periodically

My todos in microsoft outlook have been disappearing.  They are all older tasks, started a few years ago and they have a lot of history and important information in the task record.  They are completely gone.  They are not in deleted or archive files.  This has happend 6 different times with very important tasks filled with irreplaceable data and they are gone.  Help.
