To Do with Google Account

I have both To Do and Outlook on my MacBook Pro. But both To Do and Outlook are used with my default google account to sign in. I'm not seeing my To Do lists in outlook (I'm signed in to both with the same google email/account), and I'm wondering if that' because my account has to be a Microsoft account, not a google account in order to sync between the two?
