Possible to choose an older date to set as a due date?

I have some recurring tasks that I had entered with due dates that have passed. It seems that I can no longer choose a date earlier than today. This really messes with the way I have my To Do list organized. 
Does anyone know how I can choose a due date that is prior to the current date?
