No way to restore deletions?

Apparently only very specific tasks or deletions will go to Deleted Items in Outlook. Otherwise if you accidently select the wrong thing you can lose lots of information. Any work around or any notice from Microsoft that they are working on a simple trash/recycle bin feature?
