Had the same problem (macOS 11.7.10, MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013). If you have a time machine backup just copy back the To Do version 2.110, this version works without problems. You can keep a copy of this version somewhere on your mac and if an update from the App Store is not working, just copy it back to the applications folder, worked for me since the updates after 2.110.

Brilliant! It worked. Part of me is going "d'oh!" because at some level I overlooked that option, assuming (wrongly) there would be a web of associated files you'd have to track down and restore or reinstall. That said, any thoughts on how long one can safely fall back on this old version before security issues creep in? Thanks for saving the day.

Like SGordB, I wished I'd thought of that.
I do run Time Machine so I will have that version 2.110 but as I said earlier, I'm running ToDo on my new MacBook Air 15", and it's running just fine.
I do hope your tip helps others though.
Thanks again, Peter
