How to cancel notifications on iPad and receive on iPhone

Notifications are turned off in settings on iPad yet I still get all to do reminders on iPad and not on iPhone where notifications are set to on.  Really need them on phone for during the day when I don’t have iPad with me.  Any solutions pull be great!
