Did you find any solution to this? I am overloaded with completed tasks when I am trying to search for a current to do item.

Not ideal but I just delete the completed tasks on a weekly basis now. Would prefer to keep them to add notes but the long list of completed items is far more annoying for me than having to use an alternative for my notes.
