Can I go back to Tasks?

Long story short, this unwelcomed, inconvenient, and unannounced switching of my tasks to the todo list has ruined my life (and I do not trust that I won't miss deadlines because where's my stuff?!!)...

    jkott, I figured it out. Navigate to File >> Options >> Tasks.
    uncheck "Open tasks in the To Do app"

    Kenny460 Thank you!!  This is exactly what I was looking for.  The new To Do replacing my Tasks was making my life a living hell.
