Ability to STAR or MYDAY individual steps (like tagging)

For My-Day, I often would want to accomplish ONE step of a task on that day. But I cannot add that one step. I have to add the whole continuing task and just remember that the other steps and the task itself are not going to get finished. Note, one workaround is TAGS do work in steps. I imagine adding due dates and all the task functionality to the steps would be cumbersome. But at least the My-Day or Star would be very very helpful. Maybe before 2030? Awesome!
