Process Explorer 17.13 crashes on Windows Server 2012 R2

The crash difference between Server 2012 and 2012 R2 does not indicate a supported configuration. Microsoft’s Process Explorer requirements start at Windows 11 for clients and Windows Server 2016 for servers, so Process Explorer 17.13 is outside its supported matrix on both 2012 releases. The 0xc0000409 failure in ntdll.dll is a crash symptom, not evidence of a Windows component problem. There is no compatibility setting that can make 17.13 reliable on Server 2012 R2. If 17.06 is operational, you may keep it as an unsupported diagnostic workaround and should restrict it to the Microsoft binary. The supported resolution is to run the current Process Explorer from an administrative workstation or upgrade the server. If you want Microsoft to investigate the regression, submit the Application Error details, exact Process Explorer build, and a dump to the Sysinternals support channel, but a fix for an unsupported OS cannot be assumed.
