Absolutely shocked by this.  This is(was) one of the best OKR tools in the market.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement tool?

Surprising to see Viva Goals being retired so quickly. OKRs are essential for many teams, and the integration with Microsoft 365 made everything so much easier. If you're looking for an alternative, Mirro is an option for us, so far, it's been easy to use and focused on transparency and engagement. Really curious to see what solutions other companies will choose after this change.

Yes, there are many alternatives. Some new, some more mature. WorkboardAI, Quantive, and Mooncamp are the ones that were most vocal in the LinkedIn community last week. I recommend you research the options for each and make sure the tool matches your need.

Thanks for information. This was bad surprise. We have been using Viva Goals. I think it already has all the features I need. Microsoft really rugged us

I wasn't surprised by the retirement. I might be the odd ball out on that. But I've been supporting and implementing Viva for two years and not once has a customer of mine opted to use Viva Goals. And I had maybe 2 requests for a demo. I don't think it's because they deny its value. Rather, it was in a pricing tier that didn't match their budget, or it was too late in their fiscal year to invest.

I'm almost glad that they are slimming down the suite. Viva Topics is gone in January and with Goals gone in December that will leave 7 apps (Connections, Engage, Amplify, Glint, Insights, Pulse, Learning) and that's much easier to understand than 8. It makes sense because you can group the connective apps and the people science apps together more evenly and easily.

We just found out about Viva Goals in September 2024. We were on a roll until our hearts stopped upon hearing the news of Viva Goals' retirement. As a non-profit, we wanted to maximize the resources available in Microsoft, and the price per license was not steep either. RobSoto, thanks for the suggestions.

Very disappointed. This was a promising product. Wondering if MS intends to offer this functionality in another product, or will integrate with third-party vendors.

They announced on the FAQ section of the KB article about the retirement that they have no intentions of future investments with OKRs or Viva Goals. But never say never!

This is an interesting development, especially as you said with the retirement of Viva Topics as well. This makes it difficult to instill confidence with the Viva Suite for clients as they are anxious as to what tool might be next on the virtual chopping block.
