Storage vs compute

i see that within SQL Pool - your storage is tightly coupled with compute. 

 

When you scale SQL Pool - how long data distribution takes - lets say from 1 node to 60.  Its not only compute which is going to get addded - you need to distribute data as well. 

 

This is because the architecture is not inherently based o storage and compute seperation ?
