SQL 2019 upgraded to 2022 but still showing 2019
Hi,
We have upgraded some of our test SQL servers to SQL 2022 from 2019.
The SQL servers have been rebooted.
SQL 2022 shows in the Add Remove programs options.
We can see 2022 items on the Start Menu.
Select @@version still shows as 2019.
We've even run the installer again and click through to the point ti tells us there is nothing to upgrade.
Any ideas as to what is going on?
Thanks in advance

AdrianColes , have you selected the exisiting instance for upgrade or have you may performed a new installation by mistake?
Please run the discovery report for details, see Validate a SQL Server Installation - SQL Server | Microsoft Learn
- AdrianColesCopper ContributorDefinitely upgrade.
Also checked services, no new services installed, but SQLServer service path points to 2019 folder- AdrianColesCopper Contributor
Further info
- HarshKumar994Brass ContributorCan you please check what all services are under SQL Server Configuration manager. It looks like a separate installation to me as said by olafhelper.
- olafhelperBronze ContributorIt wasn't a new instance installation, Windows Service Manager would show the instance.
Again, run the discovery report for details.- AdrianColesCopper Contributor
