So I wiped all traces of Lync (and skype for business) out of my system. Still no luck. Same UI as before.

Hi Ben.  In SFB Mac Preferences/General, do you see the option of "Show conversations in separate windows"?  If the option is disabled or not there, you should check if there is a SFB client policy "IMArchivingEnabled" deployed.  If the policy needs to be set to True in order to see the Single UI window.

    Hello!

     

    I don't have those settings available. When I get to work tomorrow I'll see about the policy for IMArchiving... I don't know if that's a policy that I can change on my own personal machine or not if my company has the IM Archiving disabled...
