Skype for Business - On Prem - IOS Push Notification Status

After applying the Feb 2017 CU both the latest (6.12.0.219) and Preview build (6.13.0.102) of the Mobile client for IOS shows that Push Notification is supported. However, I don't see any functionality differences. Push has always worked for me despite this message. Looking to get more answers and will post if I find any.
Does anyone notice increased reliability of the mobile client with push notifications enabled? How much? The current iOS client without push won't run for more than a day or so without dying in the background.
