It seems that is supported now with the SfB 2015 server Feb/2017 CU https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3209568/adds-push-notification-support-for-skype-for-business-for-ios-and-android-clients-in-skype-for-business-server-2015

After applying the Feb 2017 CU both the latest (6.12.0.219) and Preview build (6.13.0.102) of the Mobile client for IOS shows that Push Notification is supported. However, I don't see any functionality differences. Push has always worked for me despite this message. Looking to get more answers and will post if I find any.
- AnonymousApr 24, 2017Does anyone notice increased reliability of the mobile client with push notifications enabled? How much? The current iOS client without push won't run for more than a day or so without dying in the background.

I think the main difference is, that after a reboot of your mobile phone, you don't need to start the SfB Client to get any notification. This is the same behavior as you expect it on WhatsApp, Hangouts etc.
- James HerriottFeb 21, 2017Copper ContributorI'm not convinced this is fixed. We have the Feb 2017 CU applied to all servers, database adjustments made and the latest SfB iOS client (with Push Notifications showing as Supported under the app settings), yet if I don't open the app for 24 hours I'm not getting notified of calls or IMs, which is the same behaviour as previously. Notifications and integrated phone calls *do* work for a period after the app is launched.
I'll do some more testing over the coming days and report back.
