Missing Skype calls on mobile device

When my phone is active and I have the Skype app up, I can receive calls just fine.  However, if my phone has been inactive for a period, and I'm not in the Skype app, then the Skype status changes to "Away" and I miss any incoming calls.

I would expect to recieve Skype calls whether I'm activly in the Skype app or not.

I've remove the app/reinstalled it, and get the same result.  I've also tried it on multiple phones and OS's and get the same result.

Phone: iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, and Samsun Galaxy S7

Software: iOS 10, and Android 6.0.1

Can anyone from Microsoft speak to this?  This issue persist after multiple updates to the Skype for Business App.  It is a completely unusable solution on a mobile phone at this point.

I opened a support case with Microsoft, but the tech I was dealing with was completely incompetent and unfamiliar with both Skype and the iOS phone I was on.

Agree, the app is hit and miss for me as well on inbound calls and IM's.
