How is your mute experience?

Hi, we would like to know your feedback on your mute experience.  Is it clear to you when you are muted in a call or conference?  Do you find it easy to unmute yourself?  Or have others unmute you?  Please share with us your feedback.  You can also go to Help | Report an Issue to file a bug if you run into any issues.

Thanks!

Chermaine

I started my own thread for this but then this thread was highlighted after posting.  As of 16.3.240 every time I start a voice conversation my headset automatically mutes itself.  Highly annoying!

Same issue for me. Latest build I am muted as soon as I start or pick up a call. Also the mute in the App vs my Plantronics headset get confused. So I may mute my headset and the app will show as not muted but my headset is and vice verse have to cycle mute twice to get them to sync up.

  • Mute works. If you have a headset with a mute button, the mute icon in teams does not change when you mute from the headset.

I have had issues in previous builds where after I mute and un mute myself a few times I can no longer do so. I have not yet tested this in 16.2.143

I also think the icon could be clearer to better indicate muted status

  • I find the current microphone state reasonably intuitive and consistent. I would not like to see it change after all the effort some of us went to to get it to this state.  The animated blue icon definitely indictaes a live mic and a black icon with the slash through it just likethe black video button says that I am muted. The mouse-over give text that says, imho, clearly what will happen when the button is clicked.

Overall no issue with seeing if one is muted or not. Only issue I see is that the "Your microphone is muted" is over part over screen sharing. So when muted one can not see what is shared at that area of the screen. Moving mouse over the window does not help then either cause it then shows the SfB buttons instead.

Also have had some issues where my headset would say muted but SfB stating I am not muted and other way around.
