External Meeting Join - non Federated partner - Skype for Business meetings

Hi - Any idea of roadmap timing for when the Skype for Business Mac client will support joining an external call native in the app, like the PC,  vs calling out to the SfB Web App?

I see that a Fedrated meeting is currently native - although kludgy join mechanism of dropping the ringing call until admited from the lobby and calling back into the meeting - very strange.
