Chat Rooms

Are chat rooms available in this? In work we're upgrading to Windows 10 and the latest Skype for Business server (we're currently on an old server so I can't test this out) and we've been asked to compile a list of applications we need. Our team is a mixture of Mac and Windows users so we use Hipchat to chat within rooms although I'm not a big fan of the interface so I wondering if we could use Chat Rooms in Skype for Business instead. Unfortunately it seems like the current Mac client doesn't support this.

    Hi Gareth,

    Whist there was an on-premises solution to provide chat rooms for Skype for Business (persistent chat), moving forward Microsoft Teams is the platform you should be looking at to provide this capability.

    If you're deploying Skype for Business Server Standard Edition as part of your upgrade, it is supported to co-locate the Persistent Chat server role on the same server. That said, features/capabilities within Microsoft Teams are preferable to what Persistent Chat can offer.
