There definitely are transferable "abilities" from your experience with non technical puzzles/games. I ll take a bit of a deep dive and describe what this means to me, hopefully you and others can relate too. The connector is the word logic. The non technical pastimes which challenge tap into the development of critical thinking, evaluating potential outcomes and employing types of logic to make progress. Memorizing formulas is trumped by determining the logic and then applying that to different situations and problems.
