Search options for Microsoft list

I have multiple MS Lists established for internal clients. We use them for inventory control.  Each list will contain no more than 4000 rows before we archive.  I am looking for a good guide for users to learn the various search options.  Any suggestions?   Also interested in any special tips as I find the standard search and filtering do not always return expected results
