Query regarding linking Work Account with Personal Account
Hello!
Thank you for reaching out with this important question. It’s great that you’re thinking ahead about managing your accounts and certifications.
To clarify, Microsoft Learn profiles and certifications are tied to the specific account (personal or work) that you use to sign in. In your case:
*Your MLSA work account (provided by the program) is treated as an Azure Active Directory (AAD) account. Once your tenure as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador (MLSA) ends and your access to the AAD account is revoked, you will no longer be able to access any data or certifications linked exclusively to that account.
*Your personal Outlook account remains yours and retains any certifications or achievements associated with it.
Here are a few steps you can take to manage this proactively:
1.Link your personal account to your Certification Profile.
Go to the Microsoft Certification Dashboard and make sure that your Certification ID (MCID) is associated with your personal account.
If your certifications were earned under the work account, you can request a merge of your certification profiles through the Microsoft Certification Support team. This will allow you to consolidate all certifications under your personal account before you lose access to the MLSA account.
2.Track your progress and achievements on Microsoft Learn.
Please note that learning progress, trophies, and badges earned on Microsoft Learn are account-specific and cannot be transferred between accounts at this time.
You can consider capturing screenshots or exporting reports of your achievements as proof of your activity during your MLSA tenure.
What happens when your MLSA account is deactivated?
Once the account is closed, all data linked to it will become inaccessible, including certifications, if they were not migrated or consolidated in advance.
Recommended next step:
Contact the Microsoft Certification Support team as soon as possible to initiate an account merge request, especially if you’ve earned certifications on your MLSA work account.
Here’s the link to the Certification Support contact form: https://aka.ms/MCPsupport.
I hope this helps clarify your concerns! Feel free to ask if you need any guidance on the merge process or have any other questions.
Best of luck with your MLSA journey!
