Azure Virtual Machine Monitoring solution

Hi All,

I am trying to implement Monitoring solution for Linux Virtual Machine. I am using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, VM Insights and Azure Workbook. I have followed the below steps, however I am not sure if that was the correct process considering we should use AMA over Log Analytics Agent. I have faced 2 issues. (1) While configuring syslog destination it is picking up a default workspace and I am not able to use my LA workspace. (2) Until I am connecting the VM by going LA workspace connect a data source option, I am not able to see performance in VM insights. 

Steps I have followed:

Create a VM

Create a LA workspace
Enable Azure Monitor for VMs features on Log Analytics workspace
Enable the VM Insights solution for the VM (This will create a data collection rule)
Modify the newly created Data Collection Rule to route performance counter and syslog to proper destination
Connect the VM from Log Analytics workspace
Verify if the VM performance data is populating (Monitor > Virtual Machine > Performance)
