SharePoint SE: Unable to Join New WFE Server Due to License State Mismatch
Matching cumulative-update and language-pack versions rule out patch level. SharePoint is rejecting the join while comparing the new server’s installed product and license state with the farm’s recorded products. Standard, Enterprise, evaluation, or differently keyed Subscription Edition installations can therefore fail even when Get-SPProduct -Local and DLL versions look identical. On a farm server, record the farm product identifiers and licensed edition. On the new WFE, confirm the Subscription Edition media and product key used during Setup, not only the build. If its edition or key is wrong, remove that installation, reinstall with the farm’s licensed edition, add identical language packs and updates, restart, and run the Products Configuration Wizard to join. Do not edit the configuration database or product-GUID registry entries. Preserve PSCDiagnostics and ULS logs. If editions already match, open Microsoft support with the farm product list and setup logs because the recorded license state needs supported repair.
