Sync Sharepoint libray columns to library on different site

I have a documents workspace library, here i work on docs that eventually will be published to a public area. In my workspace i have many columns to handle document metadata, this metadata is used inside the documents as well. I need to be able to keep all the columns i have made in my original workspace library and synchronise them to the "published" library. Anyone have a good tip?
