suggestion for first SharePoint Framework app?

Question

Looking for suggestions for my first use of the new SharePoint Framework.

I haven't coded in a while but will muddle my way through that part.

Looking for the simplest application to show a group of developers the possibilities.

Also the SPFX 40 from Olivier CC - https://github.com/OlivierCC/spfx-40-fantastics. As for other ideas, how about a blog roll to show either the traditional blogs or the new Delve blogs from a select group of people?
