Sharpeoint Version not shown properly

When I am trying to open version history for a item, it shows up to particular length and then it gives a "more" text. The "more"  text is not clickable though. 
1)why this is shown like this?

2)where SharePoint store the version history?
3)can we fetch it by endpoint and show in a custom development so we can see full version history?

note - tried using version.aspx still it shows in same fashion i.e. non clickable "more" text at end
