Pin to top document via Code (API/SDK)

Hi, 

We have a DMS system that syncs with Sharepoint sites. We are trying to add a new functionality to Pin a document. If we Pin a document in our system we would like it to be pinned on SharePoint as well. is there a API or a SDK, any way we can do that? Pin a document on SharePoint via code..
