Navigate up menu in sharepoint 2013

Hi All, I am trying to add a "navigate up" menu in SharePoint 2013 which is by default not present in SP 2013 by editing the master page by changing some properties under "ms-breadcrumb-dropdownBox".I changed the display:inline and visibility to true. When the number of sub sites increase in the top navigation pane,"navigate up" icon keeps moving over the page.It doesn't stay in fixed position.Can someone suggest me how this can be achieved.
