I am experiencing the same problem.
It also happened suddenly a few weeks ago.
In the Content type publishing log i see the following error (on all Content types)
[-2147024894] [System.IO.FileNotFoundException] [The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)]
