Create a section using code

I need a section to display a Canvas App, however ideally I would like it to be full width of the screen.

I realise this is not possible out of the box, but can tell me if it is possible to create a web part to display a Canvas App full width?

I've tried googling, but all I get is references to the OOTB Sections and Web Parts.
