Classic mode support timeline
- Jul 28, 2016
There are no plans to remove classic mode anytime soon. For more details, see our post on modern extensibility at http://dev.office.com/blogs/update-on-modern-document-libraries-and-extensiblity Until we roll out the framework and related patterns and practices, we havent earned the right to even talk about it. But since you asked, any change to support would be communicated long in advance.
Wictor Wilen At present 2020,
Is Microsoft have any deadline to support classic SharePoint site ?
or any update on support for SharePoint classic sites ?

Classic mode remains fully supported and we have no updates to share now. That said, modern is the basis for all our SharePoint solutions and innovations moving forward and we recommend having a plan to move away from classic. Ruudsolidnl

Chris McNulty Also wondering about the timeline. This whole thread has slowly developed an ominous tone. I haven't used SharePoint since 2013 and I'm not enthused about the SharePoint for Microsoft365 modern experience with respect to how I used to be able to trick out a page. I'm working on an Intranet rewrite in my organization and they are asking for it to be in SharePoint for Microsoft365. I'd love to get a little more space on the pages instead of this Modern giant font/images design I'm looking at. Started investigating and found that I could disable this Modern design for classic pages but was told Microsoft will be phasing out the classic pages and to not bother going that route. I was curious and found this thread, like so many others, and yeah...your last comment seems to have sealed the deal. You won't give any concrete dates but you certainly are signaling the end of the classic experience. I'm a little disappointed.
Would you say that I should not go down the classic sharepoint pages route and instead utilize a different technology to migrate my organizations intranet site to, given that the Modern pages waste so much screen real estate with unnecessary clutter? My org likes their existing barebones style of intranet layout. It's a good bit of data on one single page with no scrolling on any pages, as a rule. Modern pages, with their giant fonts and large unused whitespaces, simply won't cut it.
