SharePoint List Access Permissions to use Online List in PowerBI

Good Afternoon,

 

I have given a group e-mail direct access (read only) rights to a SharePoint list and have also shared a link to the list to this e-mail address given them view rights.

 

They are having issues with the List Data feeding into PowerBI Desktop and I'm struggling to resolve this - does the e-mail address above also need access to the SharePoint site as a whole where the list is hosted in order to use it in PowerBI?

 

Is it possible the 'direct access' permission is somehow clashing with the Shared Link causing the data to not feed in properly? 

 

I've tried resetting permissions/only using direct access/only using the Shared Link but can't resolve this problem,

    Are you trying to share a PBIX file or a published report? The Power BI connector for SharePoint uses resources at the top level of the site to "get" the list of lists to connect to, so it requires read access at the site level.

    "Sharing links" do not work either, since the connection doesn't use the sharing link - so you were correct to give direct access.
