Viva Insights - How can I replace the Organization field data without any data loss?
Hi please follow this document to see how the new M365 based upload attributes correlate to Viva Insights attributes: Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 - Attribute reference | Microsoft Learn The section titled Attribute to property mapping has the information you are looking for.
To replace the Organization value for your employees do a manual CSV upload using the new M365 based upload and the values will go into effect on the day you do the upload if you choose latest upload or on a date in the past if you choose historical upload.
Let me know if you have more questions.

Hello Jake_Caddes,
I chose Latest import and uploaded a full set of data for all our employees, in the csv upload file, in the Organization field I included our Exec names -- my goal is to replace Business Unit data that I previously uploaded in the Organization field. After the weekend Viva Insights data refresh, the Organization field now shows a mixture of our Exec names (this is what we want) and Business Unit names (we want this removed).
How can I remove all legacy Business Unit names from the Organization field?
- Must I instead perform a Historical import?
- Just want to ensure the only data I'm losing is the Business Unit names from the Organization field
Thank you for your help!

Hello Jake_Caddes,
Here is some additional information. I am using custom queries I created in Viva Insights that are pulling information over 12-months.
- I have manually uploaded several uploads with different Effective Dates.
- In the new upload template is there a way to add the Effective Date column and set a date that that aligns all current data?
- Do not want to lose any data (except the replacement of business unit with Exec name in the Organization field)
