Default Template will not revert to default

I've been trying to use the Onboarding App, I added a few items to the To-Do list and attempted to remove the default To-Do's. After this, now ALL options appear in the To-Do list, old and new. If I delete all of them, the default To-Do's appear. If I attempt to "Make your own version of this app", Half the buttons are removed, and there is no To-Do list or an option to edit it. 

How do I build an app off a template, and prevent it from changing? I've tried making 10+ NEW applications with this NEW template, and it still auto populates with previously entered information with no possible way to use the new fresh template.
