Cannot Pair Q3 to Win 11
I'm having a problem pairing to connect the new Win11-Quest 3 VR combo.
I do get a message "Connect Desktop Windows 11 PC" and when I hit the Pair button nothings happens. Also my Windows PC does not appear on the Remote Desktop home screen on the Q3. When I click on Add Computer, then Windows 11, again nothing happens.
I've turned on the Q3 Mixed Reality Link in Q3 experimental settings.
I turned off my Windows Firewall. I've tried both with a USBC cable and via wifi.
I meet all of the requirements for the Win 11 PC, have 24H2 with GPU, installed the Mixed Reality Link app, so not sure what's going on.
Hi Mike,
Just to confirm a couple things. First you looked here. https://www.meta.com/help/quest/articles/in-vr-experiences/oculus-features/mixed-reality-meta-quest/?
- You are on v72 of the Meta OS for your Quest 3?
- You toggled on the " Pair to PC with Mixed Reality Link" in the Quest 3's experimental settings?
- At that point it should have asked you to install Mixed Reality link and sent an email to your Meta ID account.
- Did you install Mixed Reality Link on your PC that you are trying to connect to? If not, please go here. https://aka.ms/MRLink to install it.
- When you went to Meta's RDPA (remoted desktop app) did you notice that Windows App was installed on your Quest 3 from that process? If not, please install Windows App on your Quest 3
- After all of that, you should then be able to see your PC to be paired. You should see a "toast" that appears above your keyboard that you can also click to start pairing.
If you did all of those things and the Quest 3 is still not seeing your PC, please make sure that both your Quest 3 and PC are on the same network. You won't be able to do this over USB-C with your Quest 3 tethered to your PC. It has to be your Quest 3 getting to your PC via your router and the PC is either Wi-Fi or ethernet connected.
If all of that still doesn't work please file feedback hub with this link https://aka.ms/mixedrealitylinkfeedback and we can then get a better understanding of what might be going on. Given that it isn't clear if it is the PC or the Quest 3, if you are willing to file more feedback to help us help get you unblocked, please do all the feedback steps in this article. https://aka.ms/MRLinkGetHelp

Actually it started working yesterday. The missing piece, which was not listed on the instructions I saw earlier, was your step #5. When I tried again yesterday, the Quest 3 prompted me to load the Windows app on the Quest (it did not ask the day before). After loading it, everything seemed to work fine. So appreciate your assistance.

Hi Mike. Windows App should JIT after starting RDPA. So that’s why the instructions don’t talk about loading it. It seems you have found a bug in JIT for Windows App. Do you remember the exact steps you went through doing OOBE?

You know, I think I followed the exact steps as listed. On the first day, nothing popped up on my Quest. The following day it did. So not sure what was different but it seems like something "clicked" on the quest side the second time.

I have everything good to go except on the Q3 headset, the "Pair to PC with Microsoft Mixed Reality Link" setting is greyed out. I do have the Windows App (Preview) Mixed Reality installed on the Q3.
Also, even without the Pair to PC... greyed out and unchecked in settings, the Windows App on Q3 still finds my PC but it says "Confirm your computer. Press Enter on your Keyboard now." Not sure what that means. I hit Enter on my PC and of course it does nothing.

The pop-up is inside the Meta Quest Link app on your PC
