Description
Microsoft is releasing the new Fluent Emojis update, refreshing 1800+ emojis. The new emojis bring a modern and delightful new version of the emojis we use every day. Whether for work, school, or life, the new emojis will bring the power of fun and play into every message or reaction!
Users will see a new take on most of the previous Teams emojis, along with some new picks! All skintone-enabled emojis will continue to have 6 skintone options.
These are the specific changes:
- Emojis in chat and channels messaging will update to the new Fluent style, along with delightful animations for applicable emojis
- Reactions in chat, channels, and live meeting reactions will update to the new Fluent style

- pdestefanisIron ContributorThe new emojis are an abomination. How do we disabled them???
- NeonwildBrass ContributorThose new emojis are far too busy-looking (I'm being polite here). The previous version was simple/clean and easy to distinguish. Very bad decision to change them
- mmazabschCopper Contributora lot of people at work use emojis at minimum, since most of our communications are official. These emojis are too fun for office use, maybe good for a chat/dating app.
- ginginhoBrass ContributorEmojis for kids.... just another "Microsoft knows best" change. The attitude will be "Ignore them for long enough to accept the change".
- rob_ale90Brass ContributorI really do hope not...not this time
- edevcnBrass ContributorThese thins are absolutely hideous. Please revert the change and fire whoever approved/requested this redesign.

Dear god why though..?
I mean - little kids might love 'em, but little kids are hardly the target audience for a business product like Office 365 and Microsoft Teams..
They are just soooo over the top cutesy - I find them pretty vomitous really.
I quite like that they move, but why oh why are they so sickeningly babyish on a business product?

For everyone dissatisfied with the new, static, flat/2D Fluent emojis shipped with Windows 11, there's an easy way to replace the "Segoe UI Emoji" font in your C:\Windows\Fonts folder with version 1.31 (shipped with an early version of Windows 11, featuring updated versions of Unicode 13.0 emojis, however still with the old Modern design, with a thick black outline).
I wrote some posts about this on Reddit.
Read a wee bit more about the various versions of the "Segoe UI Emoji" (and download 'em too) https://reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/qkaq56/is_there_an_option_to_use_old_windows_emoji_in/hl1bwo0/.
Learn how to properly install them https://reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/q85c70/comment/hgqnra2/.
Note: These instructions refer to Windows' own global emoji support. I don't use Microsoft Teams very much, and I'm not sure at all if it relies on the OS's font files or if somehow it has its own assets and stuff; it is possible that, after replacing the newer Fluent ones with the older Modern ones (for example, shown in Windows' emoji picker), they could still appear in many places in Teams -- in particular the animated emojis, which were heavily advertised as one of the highlights of then upcoming Windows 11 (and that promise never came to fruition, being exclusive to Teams, ugh) and which have no direct equivalent anywhere in Windows 10's old apps.
- mikepiffBrass ContributorThe fluent emojis promised in the salespitch https://vimeo.com/573224898, got implemented as sunburnt pixellated blobs. ouch.

Everyone is saying the same thing in my company, the new emojis are absolutely the creepiest emojis we have ever seen. Is there a way to use the previous standard ones? I mean they are worse than what Telegram is using, who approved this?
- Antoine_ROBERTBrass ContributorThis new emojis are not professional. Please consider giving a way to switch on previous icons.

These "things" are now live and I really miss the previous ones.
These new emojis are way too fancy/cute for professional use. I feel childish each time I use one and have been barely using them lately.
I even cancelled some messages altogether due the the lack of an appropriate emoji to set the tone of my message without misunderstanding.
You should really consider giving access to the classic ones in parallel or instead of these.
- PieterAtDellBrass ContributorFully agree. I want to go back.
But for the time being, you can still use the Windows Emoji's; Windows logo key + . (period). They have the old, professional look.
