cannot @channel in private channel in the new Teams

  • This works in public / non private channels, or in private channels where I am the owner.
  • In a private channel I cannot use @channel
  • I can @ mention users in the channel.

Switching to classic Teams, I can use @channel in the same channel that does not allow for the @ mention of the entire channel.

I am glad I am not alone.

I just installed the latest update yesterday. I am now on:

You have Microsoft Teams version 23231.413.2355.7555.
You've got the latest version. It was last updated on 8.9.2023.
      The client version is 49/23082000931.

The issue remains. Have you reported this using the Feedback option? I have done this multiple times with each update. It does not help that there is no up to date roadmap, list of defects and the links are scattered all over with various update timestamps.

Same issue with our Teams with the new version:
        Version 23285.3806.2513.4535 (23285.3806.2513.4535)

As a member of a private channel, you cannot @ the channel name. It's no issue if you are an owner or if the channel is public.

Also, in Teams admin, if you go to the team, and settings and uncheck "Mention teams in messages" or "Mention chat in messages", click Save. Then check both boxes and click Save, makes no difference.

Very frustrating. Been waiting on a solution for 3 weeks or so.
