The Stream landing page in office.com/M365 is not a destination or a container. It is simply a page that shows you recently uploaded or accessed video files (plus a place to upload/create new videos).
That page has the exact same features of the Excel, PowerPoint, and Word landing pages in Office.com/M365. It is a roll up or those videos but they are actually stored in your OneDrive or in SharePoint sites.
I appreciate that people liked the "standalone video portal" that is similar to YouTube, but the overall flexibility to provide excellent video playback anywhere the file is stored is an overall plus for the platform.

But if its not a destination or container, why not just upload the file to a random folder? It makes no difference then. It's almost as if "stream on sharepoint" doesn't need to exist.
