Here are my issues with the new stream.
The only thing that is nice is the improved analytics (they could be improved even more though)
Managing permissions for the entire company has proven so incredibly difficult when it was super simple before. We have 15,000 employees and I spent the entire weekend getting emails saying "so and so is requesting access".
Uploading does not provide any status indicators anymore. Brutal.
Every single video I have saved to onedrive has been migrated over to stream filling my stream with thousands upon thousands of raw video files. If stream on sharepoint is supposed to help with video organization, it is failing miserably right now.
I can't replace a video and retain links/analytics, just have to upload an entirely new file and re-send link all over again.
We used 'Likes' or 'hearts' as a measurable analytic and thats gone now too.
Microsoft. Fix the issue before we have to abandon the platform all together.

- Scott CzesakCopper ContributorYeah, I've been waiting until the last moment for any conversions because I felt Microsoft couldn't leave Stream as the dumpster fire it is now... NOPE, I was wrong. All it is now is a branded sharepoint search- even playlists is just a list. At least give us the old Videos back- but wow, this is absolutely awful. I put the new Stream into the category of Windows ME.

Category of Windows ME is cruel.... but fair!
I can't see how they are going to resolve this massive mistake without a 'U' turn, but then, they are rich beyond imagination, so why should they bother?
The mark of a truly successful company is to get big enough that what we want doesn't matter anymore.
Microsoft, a truly successful company.

Ok, I figured out how to give company-wide access.
1. Once you've uploaded to OneDrive/Stream Click the Ellipsis next to the video title
2. Select Manage Access
3. Do not try and type in the box. Click the tiny little "Grant Access" person icon.
4. Type "Everyone except external users." You should see the group pop up. It's a default user group that is everyone on your corporate DNS.
I didn't include this in the image, but if you aren't ready for everyone to know about it immediately, be sure to UNCHECK the "Notify People" box at the bottom of the Grant Access screen.
Hope this helps for everyone still struggling with this.

cpease This is only one of my many issues with Stream since I'm tight on time.
When playing a video, if the video stops - maybe your wifi wobbled or whatever - if you try pressing Play again, GOOD LUCK. You will advance the play bar to start it at say the 25 minute mark but no matter what shows on the bar, the audio and video will ONLY play from the START at 0 minutes. Even if you refresh the browser. Quite ridiculous.

cpease Here’s how I imagine this all possibly works within the Sharepoint department … and Im probably wrong, but it would explain things.
The Sharepoint department have everything running smoothly, but if everything is working, that means they are redundant. The only solution is to keep coming up with ideas (regardless of how bad they make the product). Being target driven, the company expects a delivery date, so regardless of whether it works or not, they must rollout on that date.
Microsoft probably feel they must keep developing new ideas, regardless of whether they work or are useful, to keep customers. However, they are making life difficult for everyone and it’s only a matter of time before another company comes up with something simple and effective that will pull customers away from the nightmare of Microsoft.
Surely the users of this product aren’t requesting theses changes? You wouldn’t ask a car designer to put 10 extra steps in before you could change gear. - JohnNobodyCopper Contributor
Does Microsoft have a department dedicated to daily find ways of making users' lives more difficult and miserable?
I uploaded a corporate video today, which I needed to set some very basic permission settings to (some people should be owners of the video while the entire organization should be able to see the video without dowloading). On the former website I would do this in a second. This current interface is so terribly confusing that I just lost one hour from my day without getting done what I needed. Very costly, annoying and frustrating.
- ScotchulaCopper Contributor100% permissions are a literal disaster. Stream Classic was very easy and intuitive to add any number of permissions quickly and easily, now I had to dive into 12 different community posts just to figure out how to share with everyone in the company.
- ITHelpdesk140Brass ContributorWatch 'The Good Place'. It explains everything.

JohnNobody I 100% agree and also just lost an hour and ended up having to change the whole video delivery method. I wish microsoft could adopt the "If it is not broken, don't fix it mentality". They took something that did exactly what I needed it to do and have been using for a very long time and made it unusable. All the previous work we did there has also become redundant as it is no longer accessible with the new interface.
So frustrated with this. Really wish they would stop changing things that make sense to them and instead just listen the people who are using it.
- KatrinaFrigeriCopper ContributorHere's a feedback request item for this - if we all vote it up, MS may prioritize it: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/5d40bde2-cfa7-ed11-a81b-002248519701
- The Stream landing page in office.com/M365 is not a destination or a container. It is simply a page that shows you recently uploaded or accessed video files (plus a place to upload/create new videos).
That page has the exact same features of the Excel, PowerPoint, and Word landing pages in Office.com/M365. It is a roll up or those videos but they are actually stored in your OneDrive or in SharePoint sites.
I appreciate that people liked the "standalone video portal" that is similar to YouTube, but the overall flexibility to provide excellent video playback anywhere the file is stored is an overall plus for the platform.- cpeaseBrass ContributorBut what is the point of the page then? When you "upload to stream" thats the page that it takes you to. But if its not a destination or container, why not just upload the file to a random folder? It makes no difference then. It's almost as if "stream on sharepoint" doesn't need to exist.

Why can we no longer upload to a specific channel? It is a confusing dump. Am I missing something?
- cpeaseBrass ContributorThey’re getting rid of channels I believe. The ‘platform’ of stream is gone. They somehow don’t see the benefit of having a platform and are moving to a ‘video organization’ structure instead. Which results is a mess of video in one giant bin.
