Using custom dns name instead of core.usgovcloudapi.net for private DNS

Are there any disadvantages if I create my own private DNS using a custom name (ex. link.app.whatever) instead of using the default core.usgovcloudapi.net? Both seem to resolved correctly inside my Vnet.
