Transferring MS Course Content from Work to Personal Account

I'm ending my contract with my previous employer and need to transfer Microsoft course content (courses w/progress) from my work MS account to a personal MS account. It's my understanding I do this through MS Learn. Can you guide me through the steps?

  • Login to your preferred MS account in Learn and go to "settings" from upper right corner where you see your credentials. Then scroll to " Login account management" where you can add another login account. After this it will notify you of the "joined" accounts and what is merged.

  • hi paulie2201  Unfortunately, Microsoft Learn progress and course history are tied to the identity (email/account) you used when you originally signed in. There isn’t a supported way to “transfer” progress, badges, or certifications from one Microsoft account to another.

    What you can do:

    Export your records

    Go to Microsoft Learn Profile.

From the profile menu, you can download your transcript or print certificates of completion.

These can serve as proof of learning when you move to a new account.

Link certifications (if you’ve passed exams)

Certification records are handled separately in your Microsoft Certification profile.

If you need to change the email tied to certifications, you can open a case with Certification Support and request they update the primary email on your profile.

    Set up your new account

Sign in with your personal Microsoft account and start new learning paths there.

You’ll need to re-take modules/labs if you want them to show as completed in the new profile, since Learn progress does not migrate.

Pro tip: If you’re still able to sign in with your work account before it’s deactivated, connect an alternate personal email in your Microsoft account security settings. This way you may retain access to the Learn profile even after leaving your employer (depends on how the tenant is managed).

In short: progress doesn’t transfer between accounts, but you can save a transcript from your old account and update certification contact details through Microsoft support.
