Lost my courses and level progress on my learn profile
Thank you everyone for your patience as we looked into this.
The root cause of all of the issues that we've been able to investigate is that a GDPR request was made for at least one of the accounts linked to the Microsoft Learn Profile. These types of requests result in the automatic removal of all records in the associated profile.
- mckinnm2000Mar 24, 2024Copper ContributorHello Derek, I have the same issue. Lost/Deleted Microsoft Learn Profile
I don't know why, but today, when I logged into the Microsoft Learn site, it asked me to create a new Learn Profile for my personal account that I was logged in with, which already had a Learn Profile created that I used on a daily basis.
I do not want to create a new profile because I have a lot of all the achievements, training, XP and Applied Skills credentials that I have earned. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks: Mike- Mats AntonssonMar 25, 2024Copper ContributorIf you had one, did you recently delete your Microsoft 365 Developer Program profile?

No sir, I did not delete any of my profiles. I have never had a need to delete any of my profiles as I work quite hard to build them up. No sir, I did not delete any profiles. I really need to get these achievements back as they are part of my resume. Thank you.

Derek_Peterson Thank you for the update and root cause. Could you let us all know when you will be able to reverse this impact and restore our Learn accounts to their previous state?
- Derek_PetersonMar 21, 2024MicrosoftUnfortunately, per GDPR rules, there is no way to undo a GDPR request once an individual requests it of Microsoft (the data is completely removed from our systems).
You can read more about GDPR at Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/trust-center/privacy/gdpr-overview- Richard_YuleMar 22, 2024Brass Contributor
Derek_Peterson like jadoooplayer I did not request that anything related to Learn be deleted. The only Microsoft resource that I have deleted in the time period was my Microsoft 365 Developer Program profile, in the expectation that might allow me to rejoin the Developer sandbox offer (an issue that is affecting many people and a matter of public record)
If deleting a Microsoft 365 Developer Program profile does somehow show as a GDPR deletion request for a Learn profile then this is a very serious internal issue for Microsoft to address.
If the Microsoft Developer Program profile is not the issue then the Learn system has either accepted:
- A non-authorised request to delete my profile
- An authorised request, presumably based on a sign-in which my Entra ID logs will show and which I expect Microsoft will be interested in helping me trace.
In either case this is a GDPR issue for those affected who are covered by the GDPR or similar legislation (UK GDPR / DPA 2018 for me in the UK) and I believe that the next step would be a complaint to Microsoft through Privacy (microsoft.com)
If there is any data related to the GDPR request or my Learn profile, I request that Microsoft make their best efforts to preserve this for investigation.
Thank you,
Richard
